We began with the Training of Trainers session (TOT) on Tuesday, 3rd October, 2017 with an elaborate opening ceremony which featured the Directors of the SAC Centers of the WAPA Ministry, the Head of Center Schools, Representative of the Principals of SAC Schools with Computer and Photography Instructors from about 16 Skills Centers across Lagos State. The representative of the Commissioner, WAPA, Hon.(Chief)Mrs. Lola Akande was in attendance to Chair and Open the Workshops along with other stakeholders such as the Directors of the Ministry as enumerated. The President/CEO High Tech Centre for Nigerian Women and Youths, Dr. Mrs. Wunmi Hassan, HTC Staff and Volunteers and some other Technical officials were all together present at the Occasion.

The Honourable Commissioner on behalf of Lagos State Government commended the initiative to empower more women and girls to be engaged with technology use for entrepreneurship and business development opportunities while reiterating the fact that the mentorship and funding opportunities to beneficiaries will be of critical value addition to the trainings afterwards.

The Director of SADU –Mrs. Oluyemi who represented the Hon. Minister at the occasion also opined that High Tech Centre should do more to continuously empower the trainees of the Centers and indeed more women with digital literacy and skills to adequately compete in the global market.

While appreciating the initiative, the Head of SAC Schools in Lagos State, Mrs. Akin-Taylor implored the Trainers (computer and photography Teachers) to take maximum advantage of the TOT so as to become more useful to the training of over 2000 young girls, women and others being trained at all the centers in Lagos state with ICT skills learnt using the Intel Modules from time to time.

The trainings for the over 1,000 girls, boys and women ran for 3 days afterwards from Wednesday 4th – Friday 6th on ICT skills like Social media, online marketing, business fliers, etc and all to a massive impact and success stories waiting to be shared.
